美國國際集團旗下主要產險事業單位, 已於7月底整合並更名為Chartis集團，為配合全球更名活動﹑以及兩岸三地中文名稱的一致性，本公司自2009年11月23日起正式將中文名稱變更為「美亞產物保險股份有限公司」，英文名稱變更為「 Chartis Taiwan Insurance Co., Ltd.」(註1)。

Thank you for your support for AIG General Insurance (Taiwan) Co., Ltd. With your patronage, our company has thrived and grown since its establishment in 1962.
As you may know AIG’s major general insurance arms have formed a global property and casualty business unit which was officially named Chartis in late July, 2009. Please note that effective from Nov 23, 2009, our company renames itself Chartis Taiwan Insurance Co., Ltd. (美亞產物保險股份有限公司).
The launch of Chartis represents exciting and significant milestones on our path toward operating independence and the unification of our market leading international and U.S. businesses under one brand. The name Chartis is derived from the Greek word for map. This name was chosen because it signals our company’s ability to help clients and customers chart a course through today’s complex business environments. It also represents our history and culture, both of which are rooted in exploration and the pursuit of excellence through problem-solving and innovation.
Although the Chartis brand is new, we are already one of the largest and most financially secure insurance organizations in the world. We employ more than 34,000 people worldwide and serve more than 40 million individual and business customers in more than 160 countries and jurisdictions. In 2008, Chartis companies wrote more than US$52 billion in gross premiums.
This name change has been formally approved by the Insurance Bureau and is being carried out in strict compliance with all the requirements and regulations established in Taiwan. Effective from November 23, 2009, the rights and obligations of AIG General Insurance under the policies (contracts) will be assumed by Chartis Taiwan Insurance Co., Ltd. Your rights and interests will not be impacted as a result of the name change.
